I helped disenfranchise a WA voter yesterday

And I am really mad at myself.  I visited a neighbor at 11:55 am yesterday in order to offer him a ride to the caucus at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, WA.  I told this person a couple of days ago that I had reservations about attending the function, for reasons I will not bias this account by mentioning, and I was not sure I would attend the caucus.

My neighbor was not home.  I assumed that he figured that I would not be going, so when he did not answer the door I was not concerned.  In any case, he said that he would be attending the caucus with his son, so I assumed he would be at the caucus when he did not answer the door.  I never saw him at the caucus and we are in the same precinct.

My wife talked to the person the next day.  Apparently, the son and the father did not agree on the candidate and they argued. The father never made it to the correct location in the school.  He did not get to express his opinion and he did not get to vote.  I might add that the father felt strongly about his choice.

I am really P.O.'d that I did not assure this man that I would be there for him.  I have read more diaries about Democratic dirty tricks than I can count.  I wish I had been there to help this man.  I wish we had more respect for other's convictions.
