If you can't outlaw abortion, embarrass them into submission

There is a bill in the Washington State Senate that will require the state department of health to keep a report every pregnancy termination and to provide a copy of the report to the woman terminating the pregnancy and the biological father.
"A new section is added to chapter 9.02 RCW to read as follows:      Each hospital and facility where lawful induced abortions are performed during the first, second, or third trimester of pregnancy shall, on forms prescribed and supplied by the secretary of health, report to the department of health during the following month the number and dates of induced abortions performed during the previous month, giving for each abortion the age of the patient, geographic location of patient's residence, patient's previous pregnancy history, the duration of the pregnancy, the method of abortion, any complications, such as perforations, infections, and incomplete evacuations, and the name of the physician or physicians performing or participating in the abortion. A copy of the report shall be delivered to the birth mother and, if available at the time, the biological father. Reports must then be kept on file by the department of health for two biennia." http://www.leg.wa.gov/pub/billinfo/2005-06/Htm/Bills/Senate%20Bills/5836.htm

This frosts me.  The author, Senator Val Stevens is, thankfully, not my representative.  This is another attempt to circumvent the right of a woman to control her body and her privacy. Apparently, living in a "blue state" is no defense against the onslaught. I was hesitant to try a diary (the "you didn't read the rules" notation in the preview box intimidated me a little.)  Never-the-less, this bill really angered me and I thought that I would share it with you.
